Butterflies and moths are members of the order Lepidoptera, meaning “scale wing”. The wings of these insects are covered with microscopic scales, which are iridescent and brightly colored. It is one of the most species-rich orders in the class Insecta, encompassing moths and the three superfamilies of butterflies. It is estimated that globally this order has more than 180,000 species in 128 families and 47 superfamilies. The butterflies have a special place in the insect world. Jungle lore birding lore is located in Pangot between 29°25'23"North and 79°25'34"East, latitude and longitude between elevation 2000m in Uttarakhand Himalaya. Jungle Lore campus have various kinds of flowering and butterfly host plants such as daisies, lilies, rose, oak, urtica spp. berberis, etc.
